Since early June, 2016, we have been gleaning and selecting quality estate and individual consignments for our September 17, 2016, Fall Premiere Auction, and buyers will quickly see that the quality and variety of items have appeal to many tastes and styles.
Fine Art Featured, Gruelle Oils
Featured in this auction is a selection of fine art, including original paintings from listed historic and current Indiana artists, including three oils by this year’s Hoosier Salon Best of Show winner C.W. Mundy, Adolph Shulz, (2) fine L.O. Griffith oils, a rare Carl Woolsey, T.C. Steele landscape, and a very unique opportunity to purchase an R.B. Gruelle oil painting, or TWO. Perhaps the rarest and hard to find of the Hoosier Group painters, Gruelle’s oils come along infrequently, and our September auction features two wonderfully original and different images. The pastoral scene is a vertical orientation, and includes cows in a creek. The other Gruelle oil is a very rare harbor scene, showing ship building as a subject matter. As an extra bonus, a Gruelle watercolor depicting a rocky shore is also available in this auction to collectors of Hoosier Group art.
Native American Artifacts
The auction also includes the large, quality collection of Native American artifacts and textiles from an estate collection. Some of the items from this collection were selected by the Eiteljorg for their permanent collection; that factor should indicate the level of quality represented here.
Other Features
We have furnishings from a very fine Cicero, IN, estate home that look like the pages of a decorator magazine! Also featured are antiques, a Wooton desk/secretary, Romweber Viking Oak, mid-century modern furnishings, fine Oriental rugs, Oriental decorative arts and pottery, a large selection of American and European decorative arts and crystal, gold and diamond jewelry from a Johnson County estate, and much more.
This will be a large auction event, and worthy of a visit to our showroom, either during our Friday, September 16 preview from 2pm to 7pm, or by attending the auction on Saturday. Doors open at 8:30am, and the auction will begin at 10am. As is our standard, we’ll have coffee, pastries, cold drinks and hors d’oeuvres throughout the day.
