CARMEL, IN- Wickliff Auctioneers is pleased to have been selected by the family of the late Rev. Berniece Hicks (1918-2018) in the sale of the collection of antiques, art glass, high-style furnishings and other items from Rev. Hicks’ Italianate Victorian mansion in New Albany, IN.

Expected to require 5 to 7 sessions to complete, all items will be moved to the auction house’s Carmel, IN, location over several months.

“In nearly 30 years as an auctioneer, I’ve never seen a collection as large as this one”, said Darin Lawson, CAI, President, Wickliff Auctioneers. “Our staff is eager to begin the process of sorting and cataloguing all items, and making them available for worldwide bidding”

Rev. Hicks 13,000 s.f. Italianate Victorian home was host to many gatherings, including many for her church family, and according to Hicks’ daughter, Beverly, she wanted the house to be “pretty”. Accordingly, the items are a mix of old and new, but are awash with color. Gold gilding covers the frames of many pieces of furniture (which Rev. Hicks completed herself), and many of the decorative accessories are bright and colorful.

Each auction catalogue will be posted on the Wickliff Auctioneers’ website approximately 7 days prior to any scheduled auction. The first session is slated for Saturday, July 13, beginning at 11am. Live and online bidding will both be available. Previews for Session 1 are scheduled for Thursday, July 11, 2pm-5pm, and Friday, July 12, 4pm-7pm.
